Make Masks With Your Cricut!!

Have you ever seen those beautiful Heidi Swapp masks?  I think they are just awesome and was thinking the other day, how cool it would be if I could use my own designs to create a custom mask for a scrapbook page or card.  Well, I’ve come up with a soloution!!

Many people are using their Cricut machines to cut vinyl letters and such.  Well, what do you do with those scraps of vinyl?  You cut your own masks!  The vinyl that I used was purchased off of ebay, and I’m not sure who it’s by, but I’m sure the Wall Pops (can be found at Lowes) would work just the same.  If you have any other type of vinyl,  I would definately try it on a scrap paper first to make sure that it’s not too sticky to peel back up.  I had no problem at all pulling mine off of the cardstock.

So here’s what I did; I cut the design of my choice (thanks for the arrow .svg Michelle!) and then placed it on my cardstock.

Then I took Making Memories Spotlight paint (LOVE IT) and used a foam brush to apply it to the cardstock being sure to cover the entire mask.  You could also add a few more coats of paint, but for the sake of this demonstration, I just used one coat.

After the paint is dry (with Making Memories paint it only takes a minute or so) slowly lift your mask off of the cardstock and viola! you have a masked image!

You can even save and reuse thses masks if you are careful with them.  I put mine on an the plastic packaging from things like Cuttlebug or Nestabilities dies.

Let me know if you have any questions!  Thanks for stopping by!

Yes, okay I’m jumping the gun just a tiny bit!  Sorry!  But I got the Cricut cartridge “Joys of the Season” not too long ago and just couldn’t resist playing with it!  This card is made completely from JOTS cartridge except for the words Holiday Greetings, which were stamped with a Stampin’ Up stamp.  I also used the Threading Waters and Leave it to Weaver Border Punches for the center strip.
